I think you should have to sign a document when you get your MINI, stating that you must wave to a fellow MINI or you must buy them a drink!
Well if that's the rule then someone owes me a case of Tequila!

I learned tonight to definitely be patient when doing the wave... I was getting into my MINI with three other friends and I didn't notice there was another MINI at the light revving their engine loudly and waving to get my attention, until one of my friends told my dumb a$$ I was getting a wave. I felt like a schmuck for not noticing so long, but I waved back. Thus I learned, be persistent in the wave!!!

Over one month with my MINI so far. Other MINI spottings: four (not counting parked MINIs I've spotted). one was on the opposite side of a divided highway, so no eye contact there; one, we kind of traded places in traffic a few times but she never looked in my direction (she had Hawaii plates! In Illinois!); one I was behind and never passed; and the last, I looked at the driver and waved at her but I don't think she saw me.

I don't get a whole lot of opportunities for MINI sighting when driving to/from work (my drive is a whopping 1.5 miles) unfortunately, but I definitely have my MINI radar going when I'm tooling about!

After a serious drought of return wave, I finally got 3 waves in 2 days! Puts a smile on my face. Hope the trend continues.

I hope waving never dies. It makes my day. I feel that with daylight savings time we'll be able to see each other waving again. If it dies it will not be with me, I'll wave until the very end.

The wave is dead here in Miami. With so many of them in the streets, they are becoming very common. The worst "wave" offenders are owners of Cabrios.

LOT'S of Minis in my community. The wave is certainly still alive, but with so many Coopers, Vert's, MCS' and JCW & even GP's zipping around here, I think there are more mainstream drivers (mini owners) these days who never have and probably never will see their car ownership, regardless the brand, as a "family of friends"... And that's ok, too.

I didn't know abou the wave. Good think I found out about it before I got mine. When I had a motorcycle it was common practice to wave at other riders. Then the white collar guys started riding and it ruined the wave.

I spot, at least, one MC a day in my area. This will be fun.

MINI should add an instruction to the Owners Manual that the wave is part of the MINI experience and if you can't get it, the MINI probably isn't for you.

I only get about 50% waves here in Chicago. Too many ***holes I guess.

I wave and in my mind I'm thinking..."Hi, great car huh?"

In the other MINI....
What? Are you waving at me? Why? Who are you? What do you want? Can't you see I'm on the phone here! Don't bother me....

There's 6 Minis (including my MCS) in this little fishing/USCG community. We all wave to each other. But then again, this is the sort of place if you wave at someone, they will more than likely wave back.

Maybe in the spring with the windows down, waves will be seen?

I still get 'em here. Not all the time, but maybe half. Got a very enthusiastic wave from 2 women in an '07!

Did not get one last night from a Classic Mini, but in all honesty I think I caught him unaware.

I was pulled up next to a hyper blue MCS at a stoplight the other day. I threw furtive glances in his direction but he seemed too preoccupied with himself to give me a look.

But yesterday I got a wave from a cute girl* in a chili red MINI, so all was made well in the world.

(*Actual cuteness may vary from perceived cuteness due to poor eyesight or wishful thinking.)

Motorcycles count?

As I was entering Jerome yesterday, two Ninja bikes were leaving. The second guy gave me a hearty wave. I, of course, waved back.

If more people waved, maybe there wouldn't be so much hatred out there?
