I try and wave at every Mini I see, sometimes its hard if I am in downtown traffic, but I am at home back in the burbs, and I see one I mos def wave, my dad (the owner of my mini) waves at every Mini he sees, despite the fact that he drives a Mazda Tribute, it embrasses my mom so much

Too bad

I always try to wave but almost never get a response.
I went to Chicago right after getting the mini and was completely ignored by 2 other mini drivers. One was in a works and acted like he was too cool for me in my stock MCS.

I also will always continue to wave.
The last 10 MINIs I've seen pass by me
were too busy talking on their CELL PHONES
to wave...they need to watch that Mythbuster's
episode...

I always wave at MINIs (even if I am in my Trooper). 80% of the time, they wave back. I told my 7 year old niece the importance of waving at MINIs, so now waves at every MINI she sees, it makes my sister nuts (hee hee hee)

Quite a few MINI's around here. It strikes me that the ones who don't even notice another MINI or don't care to notice will not wave even if you lay one on them first. Then there are always the ones that see you coming a half mile away and are waving so hard their almost falling out of their MINI's. Those are the ones that put a smile on my face.

I'm wondering if the country (or world for that matter) is getting more into a mean mood. More people (yea me too) are upset at the state of things, so much that a radio talkshow host discussed it today.

So let's keep waving! Better than the finger.

I wave at every passing MINI and stop to put a Sunshine MINIs card on every parked MINI I see (probably more than 100 in the last 11 months). Few people wave back. But I have to admit that I really look for other MINIs on the road. Usually when folks don't wave back it's because they just aren't looking. The ones that do get me are the ones in the next lane who act as if they're too cool to wave. Whatever.

For everyone who will be at the Dragon, if you wave to me I promise to wave back!

I have to admit, I only wave if they see me...but then again, isn't that how it works? I think a lot MINI owners nowadays could be just be pretending not to look.

I've been thinking of mounting one of those cop spotlights to the pillar, so I can light 'em up when they ignore my wave

Heh, they'll pull over with the double wave as they exit their MINI (two hands visible at all times, maybe even on the back of their heads, until they realize you just wanted a wave )

When I used to own a '69 2002 it was the "blip" with the headlights that signaled hello. Now I need to learn the wave. Flashing headlights might be easier because of course you can do that with the window up. But, I look forward to joining the Wavemakers.

At first I thought this post referred to doing the "wave" in the stadium at ball games. My excuse - I haven't taken posession of my Wave Machine yet.

Ahh, the wave isn't tough to master, just take your hand, stick it as far out the window as physically possible, and shake it violently, as if you are trying to put out a fire using nothing but the wind created by your hand. Now, for those days that your windows are up, if you see the other motorer in the distance, tap your toggle to get the window rolling down, so when you get close enough to wave your ready. And for those days that you can't open the window (raining 2.4 dogs per minute {literally, dogs falling from the sky} is the minimum excuse) then go ahead flash the lights, toot your horn, and wave withing the confines of the vehicle. Happy future motoring, and hopefully future waving!

Living in a fairly quiet part of the country (NH), I rarely see other MINIs. And when I do spot one it is usually off in the distance. But today I had my first face-to-face MINI-to-MINI encounter and we both waved. It was very satisfying.

I wave like crazy as do most people in Akron, because there are so few of us. However, the other day in the Starbuck's parking lot, this guy was looking straight at me, and I waved, and he just kept going. Pr**k.

I still wave. My wife thinks I'm crazy because most of them don't wave back. Sometimes I still get a pretty good response.
This morning on my way into work, let a BEP/W Cooper merge in, in front of me. He didn't even wave a thank-you. But I took a picture of him anyways : ) I had my camera with me....

I haven't had the MINI long, but I've learned my proper manners from this forum. Today while running errands I saw one, and she saw me, and we waved!

I recently drove from central Ga. to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and back and saw only three Minis and they were on the opposit side of I-20 and couldn't tell if they waved or not but I did. On a fuel stop in La. a bunch of young kids were skateboarding and rushed over to Oh&AH and thought it was cool for an old fart was driving a Mini. I think it's cool too.

I prefer to think it is that you just can't see the wave happen behind the dark tinted windows on most cars here in the Phoenix area. Please don't burst my little bubble of happiness.
I wave like a lunatic, as does my son, whenever we see another Mini even if my windows are up. My husband laughs at us, but he is required to wave also.

Had a person in an American car wave to me today; he also gave me a tumbs up! I always wave at other MINI's even if the response is not reciprocal.

I haven't noticed a difference in the past three years... There's still a good amount of enthusiasm and waves amoungst the Kansas City Mini drivers.

The wave lives in Northern Ohio. We all wave and flash our brights.

I'm a waver.........

I don't even care if they aren't looking. It's more of a principal.....

I think you should have to sign a document when you get your MINI, stating that you must wave to a fellow MINI or you must buy them a drink!
