Motorby billboard program - anyone get an invite?
Greg wants to motor on Alpine and lunch at Alice's for
Fathers day. We'll be passing by the sign on the way home.
Should be a better placement then SF which had another
sign partially in front of it.
Thanks aminicooper for passing along the info
The email announcement of the SF sign's decommission was pretty passive agressive too.
And where were those fun kits supposedly being sent out to fob-havers left in the lurch?
Not that you can really complain when a free and superfluous fun perk doesn't work out...

Hi all. I drive by the billboard M-F to get to work, and the billboard has yet to work. I'll try to repost if something comes up, but by the looks of this thread, and the response by MINI's marketing folks, it doesn't look like this program will work for the SF Bay. Bummer.
I can see the one in NYC from where I work. The messages seem like marketing speak more than what any non-marketing genius would actually write (and they change every 20 seconds or so). Stuff like - "It's OK to be late" and "Think Little." I didn't even know about this program until I read this yesterday. I didn't get an invite, but I rarely drive into the city anyway, so I can't say if it really works here or not.
Hi all,
I can confirm it works in NY, I didn't have my mini with
me, (just the key fob) but I did walk by the sign in May and
again in June, and it gave me 2 personalized messages, same
ones each time. Very cool.
AND good news to report for Bay Areans! Did you all get
the email mini notice that the billboard has officially
moved? I did try it out last night, and for the
first time in the SF area, it worked for me !! same 2 messages
I saw in New York.
So, here's the best way to see it, SF folks:
Drive south on 101 from SF, just past 92 (san mateo bridge
turnoff, in Belmont), and right after you drive by the Ralston
Ave exit, it's there.
If you want to get closer, from 101 S, take the Ralston exit
itself and follow the signs (straight) to Harbor Blvd.
It's sort of a frontage road, gets you closer.
Even closer, get yourself on Harbor Blvd itself, then turn
around and get on the 101 S freeway onramp. It's right there.
And, the best, for photographic opportunity, actually
exit on Ralston, to Harbor Blvd, at the light turn left
(Industrial Blvd), and pretty quickly turn into the 2nd driveway
on the left. (a storage company). You can walk right up to
the sign in that parking lot.
Whew.

Billboard in Redwood City works.
Spent the morning taking pics.
You can park right under the sign, lay on the ground and get some good pics.
Now I have to remember how to upload them.
So much better then the SF location.

Good to hear!

The Motorby billboard was broken in Chicago for a long time, but I was by there yesterday and got a hello from the sign.
Still lots of jealous MINI owners who would like in on the program!!

. I have to say the Motorby Program is a failure well at least in CA. That's really too bad it was a very cool concept.
