Maybe they realized there was something wrong with the first fob? I'll let you know if I get a second one one, too.

Decided not to make it a total loss so headed to Skyline.

 

My fob is deployed... but that SF sign remains non-communicative.

 

E-mailed MINI USA saying it seems no one is receiving a message in SF.

I'll let you know what they say.

 

I haven't heard back from BSSP either, billboard still not working in SF. I took my key fob with me to New York last week (without my mini), and it worked!! My name in lights, yay. So, it's not the key fob, I believe it's the SF sign.

 

I seem to be having similar issues with the billboard in Chicago

 

First they asked for my VIN number.
Next day they varified my address.

If I receive a second keyfob I will hope and try again.

 

Apparently the SF billboard will be moving soon.

Hi there. Thanks for the email and sorry about the delay in responding.

The SF board is functional. We've been monitoring all the boards closely
since launch. Unfortunately, the board is coming down on Friday. The city
of SF has just deemed the LED display a distraction given the construction,
and they've taken away our permit. We're currently looking for a new location
in the Bay Area, and we'll email all of the users the new location as soon
as we know it.

In the meantime, everyone in SF who opted in to Motorby will be receiving
a package from MINI in the next week with some goodies and a note, while
we look for the new location.

I finally got my fob, but decided not to trek through the traffic just to find the billboard not working. I hope they put the new sign somewhere in the East Bay. How about by the Collesium?

 

Initially it was working fine for me, but the past 2 or 3 times I've gone by, nothing. Where those second FOB's people received replacements for dead 1st rounds, or have they modified the system?

There is a problem with the board, and they were working on resetting it. I have not gotten confirmation back that it is corrected yet.

 

I received the package yesterday.

The 'MINI Adventure Field Kit' included:

window decals
black 8 ball antannae topper
MINI pen
MINI journal/notebook
business card holder
mousepad
info pamplets/reading material

And hidden underneath a flap of the interior mailing box, an envelope containing secret decoders - red glasses, magic window decryptor, and a super-secret decoder.

The included note about the SF billboard reads:

"Something to make the meantime slightly less mean.
We wanted to let you know that the San Francisco Motorby board will be removed due to some unforeseen construction. Apparently the deemed the infrastructure of the city more important than our incredible board. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Thankfully, the board will be relocated to a much more electronic billboard-friendly community. Details will be provided via e-mail shortly. In the meantime, we want to provide you with a little something to keep you distracted and amused until we are up and running again. Thanks for your patience."

I hope they find a place soon, I want to know what my keyfob will say to me.

I got my box of goodies yesterday, before viewing frumpysf posting. It was a very welcome surprise for me. Lots of cool stuff. My husband thought I was insane as I shrieked as each additional item was removed from the box. I just hope the new sign location is in the East Bay so it doesnt require bridge toll for me to use it. I can imagine multiple trips past the sign this summer, with all of the houseguest we are expecting.

They're the same secret campaign items as last time.
So I'm wondering if this is a new one or a repeat for people who didnt do the last one?
I'm a bit confused. Hadn't heard anything about a new secret box campaign
thingy...

I was motoring in Redwood City tonight on 101S JNO Holly St exit when I spotted the Motorby sign... it's not yet lit.

 

Sweeeeet...I'm going to email about getting a tag now that it's closer to me.
