Almost made it to the 400 mile club
Woo-hoo!! I have made it into the 400-mile club after just under 2 mos. of ownership
Last tank I got close with 385 and it was REALLY empty, but this tank I got 412 and it was still just above the red line so I could have gotten more, but the gas was really cheap at this Chevron and I decided to fill up.
On this tank I did one 200 mile highway roundtrip with cruise control at 65-70mph and the rest was city road and city highway driving.
I got 30.7 mpg, which is the first time I broke the 30's!! (it's been creeping up about 1mpg each fill up since i got it: 26, 27, 28.6, 30.7).
Based on this, it makes me think I could get into the 500 mile club on a purely highway trip!!

I actually got some of my worst mpg on MTTS, but then I was following those darn GP's through the hills of West Virginia. Going quite fast up hill is just not good for that.
I am currently 1.1 miles away from joingin this exclusive (ellusive?) club.
Last night when I finally got home after fighting LA traffic my Distance to Empty was saying 23 miles, and my Trip meter was saying 398.9.
If I choose to drive past two gas stations, I can use the one at the bottom of the hill (just in case) and actually crack the 400 miles.
However, my Speedo is about 3% optimistic compared to GPS, so I guess I really need to get to 412miles before I fill to be a bona-fida member of the club ?

how about 500 miles??
Hey guys, I am new to MINI and I have to say that I am in love with my car... even more, so is my wallet!
I commute over 100 miles every day, 5 days a week and even more on certain weekends, so I have to be conservative with most of my driving. While absolutely mind numbing, I set cruise @ 60 when on the highway and average from 37 to 40 mpg most of the time. Let me be clear that I always stay in the slow (farthest right) lane at all times, unless there happens to be an idiot on a cell poking along @ 45mph in my lane - so I'm never a left lane vigilante!
All that said, I consistently get about 300 miles to a half tank and fill up when I hit about a quarter tank, which falls somewhere around the 430, 440 mark. Do a little math and I could safely hit 500 miles on 1 tank with ease.
My record to date in the MINI is 472 miles on 1 tank.

glad to post and say my mpg on my 06 mcs is getting better by the tank full. on my last 2 fill-ups, avg. 13.5 gallons, my mcs produced 390+ with room left over on both ocassions. love this gaming of mpg.
mcs is modded with pulleys, diverters, cai, thermostat, occ and my favorite....Tornado fuel saver.

Well I hit it the other day exactly 400.1 on 13.5 gallons range was 15 miles left. I think my mileage is better now that I don't need the A/C on.
I will have to see how it goes now that I have the 17% pulley on.

I must be missing something. I regularly get 400+ per tank. That's doing my combined driving to/from work. I have an MC not the S but that's how I drive. If I have a week of really scooting fast I don't make it; but 400 is what I consider standard. This is driving around San Diego. Maybe it's the hills; maybe I'm getting a lot of extra miles coasting down our grades. Anyhow I'm proud to say 400 is standard operating procedure.
Sounds like the gas pump is not calibrated correctly.
I was amazed how I could put 20 gallons of gas in my Colorado's gas
tank, (it held 19.5). But my gas warning light never was on. So I know
I had at least a couple gallons in it.
A local TV station had conducted some research and found a lot of the
Gas pumps were not reading correctly. (In favor of the Gas Station).
Read somewhere that pumps are randomly checked for measurement
compliance with 5 & 10 gallons checks. And practically all Gas pumps
measured that out fine when checked. But when you went to "off" values,
like fill-ups, there were great variations. Like they were programmed to
handle the 5 & 10 gallon fill-ups correctly, (to avoid the weights & measurement
folks), but you got nailed when doing anything else.
do a google search and I'm sure you'll find something about this.

Not true i ran out once and it still said i had 13 miles left.
got 401.4 today in my MCS
. Have been trying since I first saw this thread around Christmas time. The problem does not seem to be with the minis ability to hit 400, but the my ability to keep my foot lighter on the pedal

I have put over 14 gallons into my car twice. 14.102 and 14.022. However, I get crappy mileage so ther eis no way I will ever see 400. (my average is 21.45 and the most ever was 27.91). The longest I have ever been on a tank was 341 and that was 13.543 gallons at 25.18 MPG.
I made it to the 400 mile club Labor Day weekend with a trip out to the NC mountains
.
Stopped to fill up with just under 1/4 tank left (I rarely let it get much lower than that) and had 422 miles on that tank!
This was 95% highway driving at ~80 mph, with some stretches on I-40 in the mountains. The traffic was pretty heavy all the way, both ways, so barely any cruise control was used.
