Ah Indi Blue...how do I love thee!!! I honestly thought we'd have a thread about the same time Silk Green did, so thanks for this.

It must be said, of course, that Indi Blue is the most perfect blue of all. I mean, isn't that that the color they decided to show of to John Cooper himself??? I can just hear the conversation at Rover/BMW, "Alright guys, we need a blue...it must be in the finest traditions of Minis and it must turn heads across the planet!" And off they went to their little paint buckets. I believe Zeus and Aphrodite were also involved, but that's another story.

I confess that I have taken BMW promotional photos and even one of Frank Stephenson's original MINI concept drawings and Photoshopped them over to Indi Blue as a sign of my own personal devotion. And then there's my Indi Blue shrine. (see gallery)

Indi Blue under a glorious Texas sunset is truly amazing!!! You can see God smiling back at you and saying, "It's better reflected off Indi Blue, isn't it??

 

Well, I can't quite agree with that, only because it's not mine. But I do really like your car!

 

it's okay. denial is one of the steps to recovery.

hmm... how exactly does indi blue compare to hyper blue?

 

IB is darker than HB, lighter than SB. It's also a discontinued color. It was felt that too much Indi Blue would, in fact, make Earth far too attractive to hostile aliens from other galaxies. It was also felt that extreme saturation of Indi Blue could cause accidents, distracting too many motorists by it's insane gorgeousness. I am not making this up!!!

I was on a wait list before MINI's even hit the States, and gave up my spot many times as I wanted a IB MCS. Only the Coopers came in IB during the first year. After over a year wait, I got the first production week (09/06/02)... the first IB MCS sold at the dealership (East Bay MINI).

I've asked this before, but is there some easy way to determine who has the first IB MCS, or any color for that matter? I suppose the VIN will play a role in this...

 

I didnt want to post any pics in the first post, but here is my car. There are several more pics in my gallery and website (click on the signature).

 

We have a 03 IB/W MC. We were trying to decide between the IB and the VR and finally decided on IB and glad we did!

We have already put 83,000+ miles on him since delivery on 3/7/03.

We also have a 06 BEP/W MCS.

 

Count me in!

This is my second IB. The first one (an 02) came from Roadshow in Memphis. My current car (03) came from Momentum in Houston.
