Robbed at dealer my MINI dealer
Sorry about ur stolen money. The money doesnt seem like that big of deal that it got lost, but the lost in trust to ur dealer, thats the big issue.
4 bucks tho?? That person must of been really hungry for the dollar menu!

I don't always bring my ipod with me... so I have "MINI rock mix", "MINI pop mix", and "MINI Classic mix" cd's i made to put in my MINI when it gets here... cheap cd's.... with the mixes still on my computer so I can just re-record them if they ever get stolen...
I did the same in my Miata (the top got slashed twice - nothing stolen - probably because they were recorded cd's)
Been doing that through several cars (11 years worth) after my six disc changer got stolen one night in my parents driveway and they took my good cd's... so now good cd's stay home... ipod goes with me when i remember - then gets put in my purse when i get out of the car...(really i only use my ipod in the car for long trips)
otherwise... i just don't keep anything valuable in my car... if they want a couple quarters from teh ashtray... they can have them ;-)

Incorrect
) In order to qualify as a "booby trap", the setup would have to taze, tear gas, pepper spray, shoot stab, trap or in some way maim the person who sets it off. Take a home alarm as a case in point. Ever walk in and forget to turn yours off? JUMP when the alarm boxes roar? Sure, I have, too. Nothing illegal there, just call the alarm co. and tell them your code, and you're clear. Now, if you had a "trigger" on the closet door where you store your prized vintage electric guitars, and it sets off a house size canister of tear gas, or directs a mounted shotgun blast out the door as it opens, you have a problem. THAT is a booby trap. A noisemaker, no matter how loud (well, within reason...let's not be ridiculous) is simply an ALARM.
Don't believe me? Call your local LEO's office non emergency line and speak to an officer.
That being said, I'll go ahead and move the thread over to the current GMT.
It's just the "car wash" guy, not usually a Dealer employee, but a minimum wage P/T employee. Same thing happened to an irate lady at the VW dealer. But she just had to put change in her ashtray twice on service visits just so she could cry "poor me" each time and try and get a free service or something out of them.
Here is how it works...During the vacuum he cleans the ash tray area very fast and absent mindedly sucks up all the contents into the vacuum. NOW does he check his vacuum at the end of every day for foreign material "folding, coin or otherwise"? Probably, but who can say? And what recovered property belongs to whom, it's all "together" now.
Is it "Robbery"? No way, no threat of force used to deprive someone of their property.
Is it "Petty Theft"? Probably not either, no "mens rea", or criminal intent, just a very efficient vacuum cleaner.
Negligence, maybe, recovery limited to damage.
Forseeable to the property owner? Certainly is now, damages split down the middle, offset by that "free" cup of coffee or two the owner had while waiting for vehicle or the pickup or drop off service.
Bottom line, know where your $'s are...

It's most likely the car wash or detail people that caused it. And it might have even been on accident...from a vacuum or such, who knows.
A tech gets paid enough not to want to steal $4 in change.
