LOL, I wondered how long it would take someone to do that... let's see how the "powers" <cough> that be respond to this.

After all, this is an electronic forum, stored on computers, and all computers start counting at 0. Especially since this is a virtual club to begin with...

Are you saying you are "NOTHING"? Wouldn't that be worse than being a "NOBODY"?

Or if you are using the binary system of 1 and 0, are you saying you are "OFF"?

Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation to be a smart a**. I like your originality.

Huh? Only if your doing math in binary. That went the way of the first assemblers using binary switches. I think Octal is in now. No wait, there is still a 0 - 7 in octal. OK, hexidecimal. NO, 0 - 15?

How does math in binary anyway

I have news for you, chows... it ALL goes back to binary in computers...

Hex Binary
00 0000
01 0001
02 0010
03 0011
04 0100
05 0101
06 0110
07 0111
08 1000
09 1001
0A 1010
0B 1011
0C 1100
0D 1101
0E 1110
0F 1111

See? YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM THE BINARY! Ultimately, every single computer on the planet, at its most basic level, talks in zeros and ones.

Therefore, in a computer world, the first number is ZERO!

But you can hide from the binary. Have you ever heard of an analog computer? The first general purpose analog computer was built at MIT in the 1930's and filled a room. Analog computers operate in parallel and are based on variable electrical voltages which can be added, integrated and multiplied by a constant. So, in an analog computer, there is no first number because the voltages are capable of changing from anywhere between -10 and +10 volts.

(hmm, maybe this belongs in the PI thread). Everyone knows that 0 means zero or nothing and nothing ain't something. My computer only uses boolean yes/no states and hence, no zeros.

And just think of the chaos. That would be going backwards from the progress that has been made. Then what? Negative numbers? Why not fractions?

Lets not go there because then we will get into Imaganary numbers for the math freaks. Lets not get into chaos theory. I don't want to know about butterflies in Peking. Edge just gets rowdy on this thread once a month or so because he missed out on the virtual clingies way back when they were being given out and didn't get to sell his low MMC number of eBay when they were REALLY hot Besides, I'm kind of feeling sorry for him spending money on those "snow tires" for our "imagainary snow". I think the daffodils are up now and the tulips can't be far behind but that is OT.

Just kidding with ya Edge

Excuse me! You're #26, I don't think so! Check post 75,118 and 119. Somewhere in your metamorphisis you got confused, not once but twice. First, you tried to sell my number (post 756) and when that didn't work, you tried a hostile takeover(post 781) using my number.
Thats identity theft. I've been #26 since post 75 and on every roster since. Your bad! So for $40 I'll sell it to you!

Did I find the Last Page or are there more? If this is the Last Page then I would like to apply for #311 which I am certain to never forget.

Last week I could not remember my SSN while paying an invoice; went to the office to look it up the next day; did not have time to call until the following day and so was fined for being a day late. I have also forgotten my mobile phone number, ID number at the gym, former phone number that is used as ID at the grocery, former former phone number that is used as ID on my car insurance, former former former phone number that is used as contact for my savings account, etc.
