LL-04 vs LL-01 (mid SAPS vs full SAPS)
LL-04 vs LL-01 (mid SAPS vs full SAPS)
Hi All,
So I recently got a B48 F56, no GPF.
I also already have an older BMW with N52, which I had been running LL-01 for quite a few years with no complaints.
I did some research on the B48 and people seem to be recommending LL-04, which is pretty similar to LL-01 other than being mid SAPS.
I know lower SAPS is important for GPF/DPF, and require low sulfur fuel.
So the question is, is there any benefit in running LL-04 for the B48? LL-01 is considerably cheaper in my area so I am leaning toward it right now.

hello,
LL04 is the later spec (not suitable in the USA) , if you are euro MINI it different and i dont know about those cars.
Here is good Info from another poster, USA cars
LL-01 applied to the 5W-30 oil used in the Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars. https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/83212365947/
LL-01 FE applies to 0W-30 oil used in the early Gen 3 cars. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...-/83215a2afa2/
LL-14 FE+ applies to 0W-20 oil used after 2015 Gen 3 cars. https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/83215A2AFC6/
LL-17 FE+ applies to 0W-20 and replaces LL-14+ https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/83215A2AFC6/
For the USA
5w-30 MINI genuine LL-01 oils is going away and being replaced by 0w30 LL-01 which will then be replaced at some time by 0W-20 LL-17 FE+
What does it call for in the manual. The old 5w30 LL-01? 0w30 is the newest weight followed by 0w20
We have aftermarkets to cover the older gaps.
