Push Start/Tow-Starting manual Cooper with fob?
Push Start/Tow-Starting manual Cooper with fob?
My friends push start their manual transmission cars (with keys) when the battery is dead (non Mini brands).
Is this possible with Mini Cooper N18 engine with manual transmission and the fob inserted?
So you would place the car in 2nd transmission, push it (or have someone push you), then release the clutch slowly, then the car should start.
I know that you could use battery booster jump start kit, but I'm just asking to know if that would work in case someone got stranded somewhere in a remote location and the battery was dead.

Ignition and fuel injection systems won't work without good battery voltage. I doubt you could get enough out of the alternator to start it. But you could keep a small dry cell lithium battery and cables in the trunk. Or a jumper pack.
