Roof Rack systems? (no flush mounts installed)
Roof Rack systems? (no flush mounts installed)
Hello.
I have someone that will sell me, from the UK, the clip part of the Thule system for the Hardtop 2-door.
It seems these recommendations were all in the UK, europe. Someone mentioned "yakima" setup but i see nothing.
I am ordering a 2023/24 JCW hardtop
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I noticed the people say there is not a particular rooftop system for the F56. Then someone noted that there is, it just isnt published. someone said that there are spaces under the moldings for the Thule 1366 clips to attach to, and the roof/body/molding has no changes.
I would love to find a solution in the USA vs paying for europe shipping (it's astoundingly expensive nowadays, hundreds!)
or anything. I would like to carry a set of skis or a snowboard with luggage for my girlfriend on trips. thanks. (i do no travel with seats down in the back, not a thing i approve of)

I don't get what you're asking. Did you not order the factory installed roof rails? There are a bunch of options available in the US, just spec the roof rails when you order the car.
I am not ordering the factory rails. they would kill the look.
I am going for a clamp system of whatever type could fit.
I have Thule 1366 Kit coming from the UK. That has the rubber bumpers and the clip/wedges that attach to the roof line/under gasket rubber area. However, that's all im getting. I have heard that the rest of the system can be figured out after, but i have no idea.
I talked just before to a Thule installer shop locally and they said to "just get the clips and rubber bumpers" and then they would work with it. I hope those suckers last forever as that would be the ONLY kit left on the PLANET (very possible). Having a system that could work that does not require such unique hardware that is out of production, would be a big comfort and sensible thing. i dont know of any though.

Form over function, I guess. You do you.
Another option is the SeaSucker mount that uses vacuum cups. Sounds sketchy to me, but some people swear by them, especially for cars that a normal roof rack would never work with, like a Ferrari.

the suction cup ones seem hm. I will PPF the roof most likely. That might make it slippery. I dunno if i trust suction cups at 15 degrees driving. the air is super dense. and the suction cups will lose elasticity. i think people who are on car forums mostly live where it does not matter what you do, it always works. i live in middle of NY most often.
I will look into that brand though thanks.
