Tell tale signs of a cracked cylinder wall?

Just started the process.
I'm trying help diagnose an issue having low/seeping compression in cylinder #2 on an R56 (Turbo) S.
We were told; it is probably a cracked cylinder wall; but there isn't any signs of coolant in the oil.
The car isn't running. I suspect perhaps rings are blown or hoping it's just a valves(s) leak.
I've only gone as far as pulling the plugs and running a syringe down each piston chamber to do a rudimentary test for evidence of coolant intrusion.

I will be having my first hand experience doing a leak-down test as soon as the tool/gauge arrives.
We're hoping we can get this thing running - (It maybe just a fuel issue ?), for further diagnosis without tearing this thing apart yet.

If it were a cracked cylinder wall/block (as hypothesized), wouldn't there be coolant in the oil?

This is my first real experience with a water cooled engine. I am conversant with cars/engines; just not an ace mechanic.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

AWS eliminates the intricacy of building, preparing, and conveying AI models at any scale.

Did you get that, @Here2Go ? Use the AI engines on Amazon Web Services and your problem will be solved. Very helpful.

Coolant in the cylinder(s) results in unexplained loss of coolant and sometimes white smoke from the exhaust. Not very often will coolant in the cylinders show in the engine oil.

The Ford 1.5L Ecoboost engine is infamous for coolant intrusion and as a Ford tech, I often come across these. The method we use to diagnose this is if the customer has coolant loss with no external leaks and sometimes misfire DTC will be present. In this case, we pressurize the cooling system on a warm (not hot) engine, remove the spark plugs and use a borescope to look inside the cylinders. We will usually see coolant pooling and dripping down the cylinder wall.

I haven't seen very many cracked cylinder walls in my time wrenching but what I have seen showed in a borescope inspection as "something unusual" on the cylinder wall. When I pulled the cylinder head, that "something unusual" was a crack that caught my fingernail as I ran it across the cylinder wall.

Nope. Although, I tried reading/absorbing the AWS content - I can honestly say; I still have absolutely no idea what AWS AI engines are all about or how to use it.
Thanks for the info. Maybe someday I can wrap my head around it.

BTW: Never worked on an N14 before.
Nevertheless - I found no evidence of oil in the coolant system or coolant in the cylinders. The plugs appeared marginal at best for a 11y/o w/156k.
I will try to preform a leak down on the R56 this weekend.
