Thinking of buying a newer MINI, need advice

Considering buying a newer MINI. I am familiar with the 09 Clubman as that is what I have. Have been looking at a few current generation MINIs. I cannot afford new but the lease turnins only seem to have about 20-30k on them and are under $25k. Only option I am looking for is an automatic. Does that price range sound high? These are at dealers. I have to many project cars at this point and just want one to drive.

Is there advice on what to look at on these. I realize they are new and there is not much of a track record yet.

Also does the 4 door hard top have any more legroom in the back than the 2 door? I would like to be able to occasionally have a passenger in there if possible. The two door I looked at had no space when I was driving, I am 5'11". My clubman has plenty of room in the back but they are priced out of our range. I do not like the handling of the Countryman as much as it looses some of the feel the smaller ones have.

Unfortunately, pricing is what it is right now. The vehicle market got screwed up over the past two years, and its going to take some time to come back down.

The 4-door hatch back is closest to what you have now. The model designation is F55, vs the R55 of your current clubman. The newer Clubman is an F54, and is a much bigger car. My suggestion is to go down to the local dealer and try some on for size.

By way of reliability, the 3rd generation cars seem to be MUCH better for reliability than the 2rd generation cars.

i went from a 2009 Clubman to a 2014 4-door hardtop. the rear seat room was a factor. it is comparable to the Clubman, both in rear leg room and in trunk space behind the seat. i would suggest you look at the 4-door if that back seat space is important.

(personally i prefer the look of the F54 clubman to that of my 4-door cooper, but the cooper is more agile and that won me over. but that split rear door… i love it so!)

I did it and will pick up a chili red 2019 2 door hardtop tonight for my wife. Has the middle trim with the auto and all of the options she wanted in her dream fun car. MINI certified and real good price. Keeping the Clubman for the kids when they start to drive in the near future. This will be mainly my wife's good weather fun car. I will use it if I need to drive a distance. My 04 Silverado at 18 MPG is not economical and has allot of miles.
