At the Port

Hey Everyone! As with all new owners, I'm anxious to get my new Mini, but after production, it's been sitting at the port for over 5 weeks now (convertible). No insight from the dealer nor Ask Mini.

Any ideas on the holdup?

Hopefully, the Oxford plant applied sufficient Cosmoline (or equiv protectant)...

Why? It's not like it's going to rust away sitting at the port. I could see maybe if it was an R50/R53 where they never got the e-coat right on the hatch and rear tail lamps.

that's funny cuz in the early years of MINI a MAJOR complaint was

Cos' still dripping out a year after delivery !!!

folks bitched a BUNCH so if you think they do too little today, blame your predecessors . .

Bought a 2002 new off the lot and on our 3rd . . .

Agreed, 5 wks waiting at the port shouldn't be an issue. Questions remain whether landed "at the port" or still on container ship waiting to be unloaded and which might be worse WRT salt air exposure? This recent article reflects "worse case" scenario, notably from extreme weather exposure in Feb 2015: More Than 3,000 New BMWs And Minis Sit Abandoned In Vancouver

My Mini just went to “At the Port” status per tracking it. Put a deposit on it back in June, oh well what’s another 2-3 months LoL!

Good thing I bought a 2014 MCS 3 months ago for my fun car til my new one comes in.
