General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Hey Everyone! As with all new owners, I'm anxious to get my new Mini, but after production, it's been sitting at the port for over 5 weeks now (convertible). No insight from the dealer nor Ask Mini.
Hopefully, the Oxford plant applied sufficient Cosmoline (or equiv protectant)...
Why? It's not like it's going to rust away sitting at the port. I could see maybe if it was an R50/R53 where they never got the e-coat right on the hatch and rear tail lamps.
Agreed, 5 wks waiting at the port shouldn't be an issue. Questions remain whether landed "at the port" or still on container ship waiting to be unloaded and which might be worse WRT salt air exposure?
