2010 mini clubman reduced power engine

Hello, first time posting here
I have a 2010 Mini Clubman S automatic that has 103k miles on it. About a month ago a couple of rats got into the engine and wreaked havoc. I took it to the mechanic and they ran codes on it, turns out my spark plugs, fuel pump, and timing belt needed to be changed and they did. I am a nursing student so money is really tight, I opted to get a remanufactured HPFP from eBay which cost 200 dollars instead of paying 900 for an original one from a BMW supplier shop. After getting the car back Ive noticed that if I drive my car all day in traffic and on the highway I get a reduced power engine light on at the end of the night (this has only happened twice) but then it goes off when I restart the car so by the time I take it to the shop the code is gone therefore I cant get the mechanic to run codes on it. I have also notice that there is a hesitation or fluctuation after the car has been in idle for a long time. My questions are could it be the cheap HPFP? or perhaps tubes that where not tighten enough? I also noticed the first time I got that particular light on that my coolant was low which i then filled back up again but I still got the light a second time about a week and half later.
