Clarification on "Mini Assist" and "Mini Connected"

Hi everyone. Recently got a 2020 Countryman and would appreciate any help on clarification on the Mini Assist as well as the Mini Connected. The salesperson, nor any of the other contacts at the dealership seem to be able to clarify exactly what they both are and do. Shocking. I have requested literature from Mini but have yet to receive anything. Is it true that one or both of these systems allow for tracking of the vehicle at all times?

I am also not sure how, but I received an email stating my vehicle was in fact removed from Mini Connected immediately after receiving an email welcoming me to said program. I believe it may have to do with adding and removing my phone from the vehicle's system in an attempt to repair the Apple Car Play issues. Any insight into what the two programs do, and if they do in fact have tracking would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton. Look forward to being a part of this community.

Here's the link to the connected info on Mini's site:
https://www.miniusa.com/why-mini/pro...connected.html

The connected app displays information and allows you to remotely unlock your vehicle, flash your lights, honk your horn, ventilate, send navigation, etc. You can track your vehicle using the app, however it only shows you the location after you have parked your car.

To get Mini Connected activated, your dealer needs to submit a electronic service agreement. The email supplied in this agreement is the email address you should use to setup the app after your electronic service agreement is processed.

MINI connected ins the infotainment system with the app. MINI Assist I believe is the roadside service.

Thank you for the link. I actually found that but it didn't really give too many specifics in terms of the tracking associated with it. I declined one of the services that track the vehicle at time of purchase. What is odd, I received an email welcoming me to Mini Connected, then another email saying I was no longer a part of the program. Do you know if functional things like Carplay will work without Connected? Also, is there anyway for me to confirm whether I am enrolled in Mini Connected? I know I am asking a lot, but hoping you or someone knows. Thank you so much for the help! I apologize for the late response. I was waiting for my post to be approved and missed when it was.

Thank you. I am trying to figure out if I am enrolled or not, as there doesn't seem to be a way to tell from the vehicles on board settings.. and trying to find out if Carplay will work without Connected.

Mini connected is used to communicate with your vehicle using the mini connected app. It doesn't really provide much functionality besides what I listed above. There's a sim in your car that provides the mobile communication. Any other item(s) that you have in your car should function fine without the connected app.

I don't use the connected app much. Since I park on the street, sometimes I check the app to make sure I remembered to lock the door.

It's been a while since I had this setup, but I think the number I used when I had issues was 866-860-0060. I think it's a BMW call center but I provided my VIN and location of purchase and they were able to look up my info. Again, it's been a while since I called so I'm not sure this information is up to date.

My advisor was also helpful with getting this setup. He had to call them several times to help get me setup properly. You may want to try reaching out to your advisor as well.

Very interesting, thank you! No one at Mini told me about any of these things. Disappointing considered I am a repeat buyer. They even tried to tell me Apple Carplay did not allow for me to use Waze or Apple Maps. Wow. Those functions do sound enticing. Sadly, the salesperson is really not very knowledgeable at all. Appreciate the help.
