MINI OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD ENGINE FAILURES! GOOD NEWS! 2ND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS SEEKING MORE PLAINTIFFS.

I just got off the phone with Gary Graifman of Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman in New Jersey. They have filed a second class action lawsuit against MINI for engine failures. What they need from us is to have each person contact Gary by email, ggraifman@kgglaw.com, giving him the year of your mini, the model (S, JW, Clubman, Countryman), where you purchased your MINI, any correspondence that you have had in the past with MINI US and repair bills if you have had your engine repaired or replaced. They have a plaintiff from Florida and me from Michigan but the more states that can be represented the better.

 

anyone know if this ever happened or is happening? I have a 2009 R56 and It’s been broke down more than working since I bought it a little over a year ago. The engine is sound. It’s just the classic things, Clutch, Computers, Timing. Ugh,

 

I have a 2010 clubman S R55 N14 purchased new - In 2014 or so I heard the rattle and the car began leaking oil. I took it into mini and they repaired in. In 2019 My wife was driving the car and it just stopped running she said. Its been sitting since then. I pulled the intake manifold off the car the top tensioner was all busted up and the timing chain has jumped off the teeth of the top sprocket but still sitting on top. The car has 67,774 miles on it and engine used installed will be about $5000-$6000. This I feel will happen again and is a manufacturing issue with then engine.

What can be done? The car is in great shape and loaded. Its such a shame.

 

‘04 R50 cvt with 118k miles.
Has had the usual (tranny rebuild, new motor mount, etc) but never had any motor issues or repairs.
Not burning oil, no strange noises/ ticking.
