Can’t upgrade older Valentine One Radar Detector
Can’t upgrade older Valentine One Radar Detector
Anyone worse having issues getting their old V1 upgraded. I called Valentine and gave them my serial number and they said they didn’t have parts in stock to upgrade my V1? They said when they have parts I can upgrade my old V1 to a new one, like a trade in for $300. I had originally bought the V1 for my motorcycle many years ago and spent the big bucks knowing I could always get it refurbished to whatever the new LEO technology was.
A quick search of “upgrade V1” comes up with a lot of stuff saying there’s no product.
Anyone else had issues with trying to upgrade their older models?
mine throws a lot of false readings these days, laser still works good but too many bogeys with K hand signals.

Then at other times.
I called and arranged to send it and did so with a check to Valentine One for I think $45. The unit arrived back in under 2 weeks with the check in the box. I called and was told the repair was done at no charge.
Then some years later it started to false alarm on one of the radar bands. This time same as the first. Got the unit back with the check -- and I think for the same amount ($45) -- in the box. I called and was told (again) the repair was done at no charge.
I have read reports on other forums something seems to be "up" at Valentine One. You are not the first person to run into this out of stock thing. I did a quick search and this goes back to at least April of this year. That's a long time to be out of stock...
You might try to get the unit in to be fixed. Based on my experience this might be done for no charge. Then at least you have a working V1 and you can then bide your time to see of the out of stock issue goes away. If it does then you can again ask about an upgrade. If Valentine One goes belly up -- just saying -- you can them put the money you were going to spend for an upgrade towards another brand of radar detector. Or perhaps buy a used V1 on online.
Fix
good idea, I’ll see about getting the unit fixed and see what they say. My V1 is about 12 years old.
Have not tried to upgrade my V1 but I have sent it in 2 times when it developed some problems. The first time it would false alarm on laser. During a T-storm (with lightning).

yeah, I spoke with a lady on the phone and she said they didn’t have parts to upgrade my unit.
As I touched upon in my previous post this has come up before on other forums. Not sure what's going on. I have never tried to upgrade my unit and I bought it sometime in spring of 2000 which means it is going on 20 years old. I have had it in for repairs 2 times. Turn around times good both times.
