Mini Cooper S 2015 2-Door in snow

Good Afternoon,

I am looking to buy a 2015 S 2-door and I am concerned about how it will handle the snow. I live in New Hampshire and in the winter there can be a lot of snow.

Any advice?

Thank you,
Bob

Get winter tires on dedicated wheels.

Mount them on steelies if you have to. Swap them out in your own garage on your own time (typically the night before the first snow storm of the year).

Our R56 was the first car we put snow tires on and now it's a requirement for us. Night and Day difference, turned the car into a little snow tank and we laugh at pickup trucks in our rearview all winter long. Plus it means you can buy better rubber for the summer months too.

"Please, sir, I want some more."

It will be fine with snow tire and dedicated snow wheels make a huge difference in heavy snow. No factory steelies for the F56 S. But you can get a set of 16" alloy which will give you enough sidewall for most potholes.

Hi all,

I need some advice on studs or no studs, thought it made sense to be a part of this thread.

Vermont 2015 Convertible S, my wife's car.

Putting winters on a dedicated set of wheels.

If no studs I'll go with Blizzaks, if studs I'll go Nokian's Nordman 7 or Hakkapelitta 9.

Any New England folks able to share some advice?

She primarily drives around Burlington, but also goes out toward the mountains twice a week to meet with clients which involves 20 minutes on a hilly interstate and 10 minutes on dirt roads.

Safety is #1 concern. What's the best all around tire for her whip?

Thanks!

Get dedicated snowtires on rims. When driving in heavy snow, don't do anything drastic. Drive (start, stop and turn) as smoothly as possible, and you should be fine.
You should be able to get inexpensive winter alloy rims for under $100 each.
