F56 S JCW upgrade, is the exhaust part required?

I saw the JCW upgrade kit for the F56 Cooper S on the MiniUSA site. It includes the chip upgrade and a new exhaust with this bluetooth control to open/close the exhaust.

I wouldn't object to the HP boost, but is the exhaust changeout really needed? I'm not one of those people who care about the sound by car makes, but do appreciate performance. Is there another way?

It is not a "Chip" upgrade. It is new programming flashed to the cars ECU. The software update is not available separately from the exhaust system. That's why, for the S, it called the JCW Pro Tuning "Kit".

And if it was available it wouldn't be price competitive to ECU or chip tunes that offer more HP for less cash.
