New to turbo cars
New to turbo cars
Ok, my MCS is my first turbo, I’m a little confused on how the actual process works, this is how I think it works.
Air comes into the car And goes through the intercooler
Then the air goes through the air filter
Then the air goes through the turbo
and then through the exhaust system.
I’m probably wrong, but I’m new to Turbocharged cars.
thanks

air comes into the inlet tube at the front of the car and goes to the air filter box
through the air filter
through the air mass sensor (so the ECU knows how much air is flowing into the engine)
into the compressor side of the turbo where it is compressed (and therefore heated)
through the intercooler where it looses some of that heat, and becomes denser
through the plumbing, throttle body, and into the intake manifold, then into the cylinders when the intake valve opens
compressed as the intake valve closes and the piston rises, then mixed with fuel from the fuel injector
BOOM when the spark plug fires, then out of the cylinder when the exhaust valve opens
through the exhaust manifold and into the turbo where it spins the turbine side of the turbo which spins the compressor side
then out into the catalytic converter, exhaust plumbing, muffler, and out the back of the car.
