New 2019 jcw

So just picked up my new mini today. I had a 2011 jcw a few years back and traded it in for an M4. Drove the M4 for 3 years and loved every minute of it. I did miss the jcw though. Well, the lease was up and I decided to get back in a mini again.

First impressions, the clutch is not nearly as good in this generation as it was in the 2011. This clutch feels very squishy. The old one was nice and firm and felt tough. Was easily the best clutch I've used. So I'm a little disappointed in the feel of this new one. Second, the steering. Wow.... It's really bad in sport. It feels sooooo artificial. It's way bad. In mid mode, it's OK. In green mode.... I mean come on.... Who uses that? Lol. So yeah, pretty disappointed in the clutch and steering feel. Suspension feels ok. A bit more harsh than needed in sport. I wish I could toggle the throttle, suspension and steering all independently like the M4. That would be ideal. Sadly, you can't.

Now, that said, the car hauls. It sounds great. The infotainment is great. All around, it's great. I'm really happy to be back. I'll get used to the squishy clutch. But man I miss that sporty clutch in my old jcw. Not sure I'll get used to how bad the steering is...... It looks great too except for the wheels. They for sure need some better wheel options.

You will get used to the clutch. I have a hard time "clutching" my wife's R58. When I drive hers, once a week, it takes a few shifts to get the gas/clutch coordination back. The F clutch is much better IMO.

Nice looking car. You can choose your sport mode settings for suspension and throttle response, no? I can in my 2015 MCS.

Cheers!

Very nice!

We were supposed to pick up my wife's new JCW Clubman yesterday, but their computers were down all morning so they sent all their workers home. Great for them, not so great for us, but life goes on. Hopefully tomorrow!
