I polished my interior trim with furniture polish, now it’s shiny!

Hi,

around 4 months ago I cleaned the matte plastic interior trim in my mini using furniture polish which contained beeswax, anyway it made the area I polished slightly shiny but I wasn’t bothered at the time, looks the the area I polished today and it’s still shiny, 4 months on, how do I remove the shiny ness and have I permenantly damaged the plastic trim? Thanks

I know when I work on an exterior part that has been waxed I use a 50/50 alcohol solution that I keep in a spray bottle that cuts through wax, any sealer that I’ve used. I would think that it would work on wax parts in your interior. Dave O. would know for sure.

Try what I recommended to you and then report back. Alcohol will prepare your trim for a proper interior trim treatment.

matte plastic interior trim, do you have a picture of what trim? I clean my MINI all the time and can help you out. Most will come off with a mild cleaner, and windex. Whats with alcohol as it can sometimes remove the factory finish and color.
