Ordered car arriving next week! What to do/expect?

Hi All,

The ship carrying my car is arriving this Friday! The car is due in the dealer around the end of next week. 🙌

This is my first time ordering a car (and first MINI). What should I expect? Anything I should do to prepare?

The exact purchase price has not been worked out. But I’m planning on selling my current car separately before the MINI arrives (but with the possibility of trading in at the dealer). I will be taking out a loan for about $10K (putting about $20-25K down). TrueCar for my area indicates I should expect to pay ~$500-$750 above Invoice which would be great.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to joining the MINI family. Thanks!

It’s a F55S Iconic Trim - Thunder Grey - Chesterfield Malt Brown.

Congrats on your new car & first MINI!

Depending on your level of experience with the whole car buying/negotiation process, you might read this thread. It was hugely helpful to me when preparing to go through the process for the first time earlier this month.

Aside from that, I can only offer basic advice: clean up your current car for a dealer inspection if there's a chance you'll trade it in. Wash & maybe wax the car, vacuum the interior & trunk (boot), clean the engine bay, apply some tire black to the rubber to make your car look its best. Remove personal effects from the door map pockets & glove box, etc.

If you plan to finance through the dealer, make sure credit reports are open to query by the dealer or whomever is financing the loan. (I froze my credit reports from the Big Three after the Experian breach earlier this year, so I'll need to remove the freeze before I pick up my car in the next month or so.)

Enjoy the experience of taking delivery of your first ordered/custom spec car! I'm waiting on my first of that kind too, so I share your excitement. Good luck -- hope it all goes smoothly for ya!
