The waiting is the hardest part (ordered & tracking thread)

There used to be a "support group" or "waiting room" thread on NAM some years ago, for those who had placed an order & were going through the painful waiting time, eagerly anticipating the arrival of their new MINIs. Maybe it'll help quell the antsy, impatient spells & help the time pass as we all commiserate

I'm waiting on a '19 F56 JCW in Starlight Blue. This will be my second MINI, but first brand-new car ever, first spec or custom order. I placed my order on June 11, just got the VIN yesterday, and am currently in status 150: Production Started.

According to my MA, the car could be on their lot in 3-4 weeks (c'mon THREE!). My car is already named, and I have a list of mods for after the break-in period. Yeah, I've been thinking about this for a while lol. I think the worst part is that from what I've read, we can no longer learn what boat our cars are on, so no more tracking via the Internet.

I feel like a kid once again, eagerly awaiting Christmas Day, but this time it's an awesome grown-up gift, delivered by ship & car carrier instead of Santa's sleigh. Anyone else?

I'm right there with you. I've waiting for a '19 F56 in BRG with white trim. Ordered June 5th, rolled off the line on Friday the 15th, reached the dock Monday. Just waiting to get on a ship. I'm in Denver so it will be more like 6 weeks for me once its loaded. 4 weeks to get to California, then another 10-14 days to get to the dealer. My wife is going to be out of town for the second half of August so I'm crossing my fingers it will be here before then otherwise we'll have to wait for pickup (we both need to be there to sign papers).

This is my fist Mini and my first ever new car too. Not sure if I'm going to name it or not but Donatello might be a good choice. Its green, small, and when I get it it I'll be adding some purple to it as a U of Washington alum. :D I don't have any mods planned yet, going to see what I feel like doing after driving it for a bit.

Congrats on your first MINI! When I drove my R53 home that late summer day in '10, it reminded me that cars can be fun as well as utilitarian. Driving doesn't have to be boring, and won't be anymore!

My 2006 S is British Racing Green with white roofs & mirrors: a classic color combination, and never a bad choice. Is your F56 an S? I drove a couple of Ss and was happy with the performance. Even the "justas" are fun cars when driven right.

I'm envious of your location, and can only imagine how much fun it'd be to drive through the Rockies in a MINI. You'll have to share some pics when you get the keys

Time to go Die-cast shopping to see if you can find a match.

Motor On!

Yes, its an S. I went back and forth on that but in the mountains it felt like the right move. Already planning on taking it up through Rocky Mountain National Park and then back over the Divide on 70 the first weekend we have it. We're upgrading from a Civic (we kept the Civic but we are at a point where we need a second car due to my new job) and the Honda can barely maintain speed going up to the tunnels eastbound on 70 at the Divide, I'm looking forward to actually being able to pass people on that climb now. :D

I've wanted a Mini for a long time (long time) and the green was pretty much the only color I ever considered. Lapisluxury Blue was the only other possible choice.

On our trip to Hong Kong last month we discovered the world of Tomica. I found a BRG JCW model, which I figured was close enough to the S I'm ordering. I also have both LEGO models which come in green.

I was able to get my VIN from my MA last week & have been checking the status in the Owner's Lounge, but haven't seen any change. It's been "ready for production" since I entered the order # (prior to the VIN availability).

Today I checked My MINI VIN and it said production started yesterday! I'm hoping my car will be on a boat in a week or so, then I guess it'll be another week + before my JCW makes it thru the VDC & is on its way to the dealer. Can't hardly wait!!

My car has been sitting at the docks in Southampton for 10 days now (got off the train from Oxford on the 18th according to ASK MINI). Then its expected to take 4 weeks to get from there to the VDC in California, and then 10-14 days from the VDC to the dealer. If it leaves tomorrow I hope to have it by Aug 10th.

I think hoping it will be out of the VDC in 2+ weeks in Florida is optimistic.

You may be right. I'm having the black headlight & tail light trim installed at the VDC, but I was hoping that would be a quick job and that the time-in-VDC would be short. I may start using ASK MINI in a week or so to get a better idea of timeframes. The uncertainty & not knowing makes the wait that much harder for me. Even if I had some SWAGs I think I'd rest easier

I actually got updated info from my agent. While the online tracker updated today it actually left Southampton on Saturday. Estimated arrival at the VDC in CA is July 20th, so hopefully at my dealer in Colorado by the end of July!

Getting what I call Christmas Eve Fever, I called the ASK MINI phone number today & spoke with a customer service rep, who confirmed that my MINI is asea, aboard the Florida Highway. He was able to give me the est. date for arrival at port in Georgia (July 11), so I'm guessing I should be able to get my car by the 21st.

I've been tracking the ship mine is on, the Don Juan, across the Atlantic. Its out to sea a ways off the Chesapeake today, with expected arrival in Baltimore on Friday. But I still have to wait until it makes its way through the Canal and offloads in California on the 20th. Hoping to take delivery by the end of the month.
