New mini cooper s owner

I just test drove a 2008 mini Cooper s and ended up buying it. I rolled the dice. The previous owner said he replaced the engine with a reman one. The whole car had 98k miles, and the engine has aroind 2k miles on it. He said there was an oil leak in the turbo, but he switched to 40w and the leak stopped. Turbo spools up and there is no black smoke so I don't think he turbo is bad. there is also a new water pump and clutch. It runs very good, no noise it seems like a good little car. This is my first mini though, and I want to make sure I hit the points of maintenance. What are some common things I should look out for that are common failure points?

Welcome to NAM. Suggest you check out the Gen2 FAQ section as there are threads there on your model. If you post something in that Gen, you should get more responses as some of us oldies do not know too much about the turbocharged cars as we have superchargers.

I do know that your car had the N14 engine that did have some issues with chain tensioner guides and could be the reason for the engine change.
