Harmon Kardon Bass Amps In Non-HK Ready Car

I was wondering if anyone has installed HK bass amps/subs in their car that isn’t HK ready?

I’m adding the speakers into my Paceman, but I want to know anyone else has added the bass into their car and if it sounds off with the non-HK amp installed?

Links, videos comments are totally welcomed.

I gave you a link in your other thread.

You are wasting your money on HK speakers. You'd be better off with a new amp and after market speakers. HK speakers of this generation are garbage. Maybe in the past they were good but not anymore.

You can do the Bavsounds without a new amp and pick up a lot of improvement as they are better made and more efficient with the power from the stock amp. Read more about them on the BMW forums as they are more into audio upgrades than MINI people.

It wouldn't sound good without also switching all of the speakers to HK. The HK amp applies signal processing (crossover and frequency response corrections) to each output to match the corresponding HK speaker. A non-HK speaker will receive the wrong signal corrections. The opposite is also true — an HK speaker won't have its anomalies corrected if it is connected to a non-HK amp. In general, mixing HK and non-HK components doesn't work well.

@Minnie.the.Moocher I found a dealer that sells and installs in SF & Sonoma County so I’ll call them and ask them what’s up.
