13' GP vs 17" S w/ tune kit

I've been looking at getting a 2017 S with the JCW tune kit but I came across a 2013 JCW GP at a dealer nearby. I went and test drove it and it was certainly a blast. I do like the no frills GP version with the center speedo but its nearly the same price(high 20's) as the new one. Performance wise, which do you think is a better choice? the 2013 is lighter and but the 2017 has more stock horsepower that could always be tuned for more.

Hope you buy either one and continue to post at NAM. There is an immense amount of information on the Mini here between the threads, the members and the vendors.

As you asked, pretty sure you will get pros and cons on the two type cars you have noted. At the end of the day you will be driving the car, not those being asked. Will this be a daily driver or a weekend type thing?

I would think most would say at about the same price the new car with the factory warranty is the way to go.

GP will probably hold dollar value. I would however buy the new 17, warranty, better build, better engine. Rattles less.

You could probably buy a low mileage F56s and save a load of cash.

I'd take a 13 foot GP over the 17 inch S.
More leg room.

It'll mostly be a day to day driver with track days mixed in. I've had military trucks that require back surgery after 100 miles so I'm not terribly worried about a bumpy ride.

R series GP over fish face all day. Also as stated above, the GP will hold its value.

Never thought of it but the Gen3 does look a little like a bullhead in the front.

Same, but I went catfish with its mouth pushed out. They're not horrible but the R series do look better to me. If I could have a brand new R56 with a 2.0T and the F series interior, I'd buy it today. I'm holding out for the next generation, the upcoming facelift spy photos tells me I'll be waiting a little bit longer.

I would go for the GP, just because it's rare and you get those seats and the rear seat delete. You don't see many GP's around. Also, more aftermarket options if you want.

lol, this made my day.

really wish they would have introduced the 2.0l in the last production year of the r56. my n18 hasnt been much trouble but the extra displacement would nice,
why a 17S though? find a year or so old jcw equipped with bbk/suspension

I would go for the GP...

...sure it is a few years old, but that wouldn't scare me at all.

Thanks, ya I've pretty much decided on the gp2. There is a 2013 jcw near me with like only 2500 miles but they are asking more than a gp2.
