Looking for Longer Coolant Expansion Tank Hose
Looking for Longer Coolant Expansion Tank Hose
So I've got a 2013 R56 N18 and the hose that connects to the bottom of the coolant expansion tank is so darn short.
Would an auto parts store sell a longer length of this hose? Do I just have to give them the dimensions of the OEM hose?

Ultimately, I'm trying to keep my newly installed NM Engineering hot side discharge pipe from touching the hose that connects to the bottom of the coolant expansion tank.
I tried turning the elbow towards the front of the car but it caused the aluminum part of the discharge pipe to touch the backside of the radiator fan. I was able to get it aligned just right so there was about 1/8" clearance from the coolant expansion tank hose and the backside of the radiator fan. I tightened everything up, went for a drive, rechecked everything, and everything went to crap; stuff was touching.
Here are pictures.
1. This is a picture taken from the top of the with the coolant expansion tank taken out looking towards the passenger side of the car. The aluminum part of the discharge pipe is touching the plastic part of the radiator fan where those wires run through.

2. This is a picture taken from the bottom of the car showing how the aluminum part of the discharge pipe is touching the plastic part of the radiator fan. The bottom of the picture is the front bumper. The top of the picture is the firewall.

3. This shows how the silicone elbow from the output of the turbo is touching the hose connected to the bottom of the coolant expansion tank.

4. A close-up of picture #3.

Try a short piece of metal tube then another short piece of hose, so its a little extension. Or since its close rotate the hose connection a hair from the bottom of the tank. I would also make sure the expansion tank is seated and in place on the upper U brace and the lower part of the tank is pushed into that grommet.
Let me know if that works.
