I want to do this and have read articles and watched Youtube instructionals on doing this. I've heard two to four hours.
How many of you did this yourself vs a shop? I'm relatively handy, but also somewhat impatient. Not to mentioned big paws tryimg to get into small spots.
Everything is do-able with general hand tools and a couple of jacks, but a torque wrench that reads inch lbs is required to properly torque the pulley.
We are doing them in about 45 minutes, but we have a few under our belt.
If you have all the required tools as well as a pulley removal tool you should be done in an afternoon if you take your time and walk away if you lose patients.
Our tech article says it should take the average DIY'er about 2 hours (this is what it took us on our R53). Those more experienced or those who have done the job a few times can most certainly cut this time down. As said already, having the right tools for the job is what really makes the difference. The Pulley Removal tool really turns a much harder job into a relatively easy one. If you don't want to buy a new one I'm sure you might be able to find one in the marketplace. I see them floating around there from time to time.
