a 'real' fuel comparison
a 'real' fuel comparison
a very interesting article where a 'real' comparison was made between fuels ... regular, higher octane, no ethanol, and super high octane racing fuels ..... https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/fuel-truth/ if the link won't work pasted into a browser send me your e-mail and I can send it to you ... I saved it. A most curious result was that as compared to 93 octane E-10, 93 octane eth' free resulted in lost HP and torque despite much higher cost . . .
yea, I know ... it was a Miata ..... but a very tuned Miata . . .

totally not relevant to real world driving on the street ... performance was tested at 1 rpm with the engine re-timed to achieve peak power
i see 4-6 mpg more with 91E0, 92E0 or 93E0 than with 92E10 or 93E10 ... it is repeatable and consistent ... i have seen 8 mpg higher when running a whole tank out on the interstate ... 42 mpg on my 2012 cms all4 (500+ miles per tank!) using 93E0
the car also starts easier and runs smoother (especially when cold) with any flavor E0 than any flavor E10
