iPhone 6 with 2016 Clubman S...and messages

Has anyone successfully paired their iPhone 6 with the 2016 Clubman S to receive messages? The official MINI stand is that it doesn't work...but other threads indicate MINI has said that before and folks got theirs to work...so I'm asking to see if I'm doing anything wrong, and/or if my issue is just my specific combination.

I have the Wired Package - and MINI connected XL....did I not get something I needed for this to work?

I have unpaired, repaired, forgotten, and danced. I have notifications turned on. I checked my VIN # and MINI says I have the current software.

Is there a specific order that I should do things in? I know I had to do very specific things to get the garage door opener to work, but at least MINI said that should work. With MINI saying they don't support the iPhone 6 or 6s for the office features I'm not as optimistic.

And as an off question - why don't they support it on this phone? Seems crazy to me....

Patty,

It works, there are a couple tricks you have to do to get it to work. First of all download the MINI Connected app from the App Store. You can get the XL app as well but the MINI Connected one is mandatory. Connect the car to your phone with a Lightning cable and open the application. It should load up a few things in the MINI Connected screen.

Now, go into your iPhone and go to Settings->Bluetooth->(your mini) and select the little i with a circle around it. Make sure that Show Notifications is turned on.

Next thing to do is to go to Settings->General->Accessibility->Call Audio Routing and make sure that Bluetooth Headset is selected. This will VASTLY improve connectivity to the car. It's a temporary solution that BMW has put into place until they can get a work around done in their software.

Now the only way to get your messages to come across (to my knowledge) is to have the phone connected to the car with the Lightning cable and to have the MINI Connected app open. I have my routine set up to plug in the phone and open the app and hit the start stop switch. I usually wedge my phone in the passenger seat thigh support slot. Holds it in place and still give me functionality for it.

I just wish that they would allow for a response to an incoming message. It only does me a little bit of good to be able to read or hear the message out loud. I suppose I could call them though....

Thank you Camyman --

I still do not have messages working - even following your specific directions.

It's a bummer, but I guess I'm going to have to admit defeat on this. I'm not changing phones, that's for sure. And I love this car even if it won't "talk" to my phone.

Thank you for trying to help me...

Patty
