All MINI knows are BMW style *****, as far, as I have been told, which is a shaft with piece cut through the center and kept on by an internal ring clipping system, people call thus friction because all you do is pull really hard to get it off. I will have the answer for sure for you on Tuesday or Wednesday as I will be installing a 2nd Gen JCW carbon ****, on my 3rd Gen S, and since I have a huge collection of BMW ***** I will lie able to compare that too.

He is right, but the difference is rather frustratingly small, see this post I found in the archives regarding the difference between gen1 and gen2, Gen3, seems to be the same as gen2 and bmw, but will still compare, when I get mine in, this post does confirm they are all of the BMW design style.

r56 interchangeability with r53 shift *****

Edit: it would be pretty cool if a sponsor made a short shift kit that used the new style lever design so that 1st Gen cars can use all the new stuff.
