I have a 2009 JCW Clubman and I am getting blue smoke after an idle of as little as 30secs. The problem seems to be intermittent, was totally gone for months and came back after an oil change. I do oil every 5000 miles and never let it go down more than 1/2 a qt. The car is using 1 qt of oil every 600 to 800 miles and has since I bought it. The car has 69000 miles on it. I bought it at 42000 so I don't know it's history before my ownership other than a new clutch at 22000(warranty). I have been told possible turbo.


Any help would be appreciated.

 

Blue smoke is generally oil. How's the engine bay looking? I'd look into oil leaks and the head gasket.

 

Engine bay is clean, no antifreeze use so I assume Head gasket is ok.

 

I don't know much about the R55 (N14?) engine (I'm a R53/W11 guy), but regardless, that's seems to be a substantial amount of oil to be using every 600-800 miles! Perhaps you have a leak that you are unaware of. Maybe leaking down the back-side of engine, onto the headers and burning off? Any drips on the floor?
