Radiator Fluid and Oil

Hi,

I have a 2010 Mini Clubman with almost 100K...how did I get so many miles on this car?!

Anyway, I recently had my thermostat housing replaced, but it seems that my radiator fluid level still slips down below the minimum. I have three questions: Could there be another problem that is causing it to dip down below the min? Or is it just common to have to top it off every few months, especially since I do quite a bit of driving at times? What kind of radiator fluid would you recommend as I know that Mini's take a special kind?

Also, I find it hard to read my dip stick when checking my oil. Is there a trick to this?

Thanks kindly for any help you can give me. I truly appreciate it!

Have a great day,
Deb

Are you sure there aren't any leaks in the system anywhere? Here is coolant for reference. Genuine MINI is going to be the OE coolant.

Hold a white paper towel flat in your open hand, and lay the dipstick on it horizontally after cleaning it and then dipping it. You'll clearly see where the oil deposit is on the towel instead of having to try to read it on the stick.
