I have discovered that the screws that were used to secure the rear tag on my Cabriolet are frozen in the nylon holders. Any attempts to remove them only results in the nylon insert turning in the hole. I cannot access them even by taking the truck cover off. They appear to be inserted into another section of the sheet metal. Anyone have any ideas? I may have to resort to messing up the tag to pry the nylon out and then get new inserts.

 

That's what I ended up having to do when I picked up my car from the previous owner. She was going to turn her old plates back to the RMV so she let me bend and cut the rear plate.

I ended up having to buy a new license plate bracket afterwards.

 

I'm in the process of listing mine and don't want to destroy the plate until/unless I have to. Danged screws should have been stainless, but that was MY fault. I never changed them~
