OK, I am confused and come seeking enlightenment.

So I read that MINIs have Bluetooth connectivity standard. OK. But I was talking to the dealer and they said "sure. You just plug in your phone and..." and I'm like "right, for charging, I get it. But what about using Bluetooth to play music, etc?" and they reply "oh for that you need Connected. But you can play your music through Bluetooth when it's plugged in" and I'm like "waaaait, that's not what Bluetooth is" then there was kind of an awkward silence like after Nigel Tufnel says "But this one goes to eleven"

So. What am I missing? What did the dealer not explain/understand? It says Bluetooth comes standard right on MINIs web site, so it must be doing *something*, but what?

The included Bluetooth will only make phone calls through your stereo. You will not be able to play music via Bluetooth with the standard Bluetooth. There is no voice command dialing either, you have to either call from your phone or through the stereo.

 

+1 on Skummdogg's post. As someone who has both the Base and Connected systems sitting in their garage via 2 cars.....

 

yup, making bluetooth standard for 2013, MINI did their best to still keep the "good stuff" for their "paying customers".
