Still Learning

Last September my wife bought a 2011 Clubman CPO. She loves it, I enjoy driving it when allowed. My responsibility is to teach her everything about it and to make sure it is maintained. In January the Service light came on, took it in had it serviced all covered except for a tire that was destroyed as I was getting off Freeway by dealership. They also found and replaced a water pump pully. Last week I noticed the red Service light was on 32K. Thought it was something wrong (not check engine light) so used BMWhat app and found a couple of codes. Took it in and was informed it was due for oil change, this computer controlled service this has got me, not used to it. Any way informed SA of the two codes without a CEL said they would check.

Their scan showed after charging battery(?) the tech found a relay in the battery junction box missing and replace it and then found and replace a bad eccentric shaft sensor. Neither of these showed a OBDII code when I scanned it with BMWhat just showed a code 002F42 and one other for the engine> Since it did show a CEL or didn't notice a decline in performance, never knew anything was wrong just thought the service light was the warning light. So still have some to learn with the service light.

On a more serious note the Tech found a dent in the oil pan by the drain plug and noted it on the invoice there is damage to the pan, scrapes and a 1/2" dent at the drain plug, not leaking as I jacked it up when I got home, yep she ran over something, I did a check and found no other damage other that scraped plastic under the front facia and splash guard. I will buy a pan and gasket and have it ready to replace if it starts leaking. It looks like it is something I can do as according to Bentley it is not to big a job. Just have to find out about the two special tool it says I need. So far my Dealer has done a good job taking care of Lulu now the owners just have to learn to take care of her. Will Jack it up better this afternoon with 4 stand so I can do a thorough check although the Tech didn't note any other damage.

On a side note while waiting at Dealership I fell in love with a white silver 4 door MCS it had a a white top and mirrors with a white stripe, kind of subtle and didn't look so bulky and big like other colors. Looked at Countryman and Paceman same the lighter colors made them not look so big. I am 72 don't need a attention grabber, Sorry this is so wordy.
