There is at least one other vendor (forgot who) who sells similar full circumference strut tower "defenders".

My car has had the M7 strut tower "since 2005" said the previous owner. I took the strut tower off the other day and it looks good no mushrooming :3 So recommend having one.

I'm using a JCW suspension kit, it lowered my MINI about 1/2". There are times I miss that 1/2" of ground clearance, but I do like the handling improvement it gave me.

Lowering 2" will make living with your MINI in the real world tough. As has been said you are very likely to have drive shaft issues with such a drop.
I know that Koni says that the valving in the FSD's is designed to work best with stock ride height......but what makes you believe that it's going to make the shocks wear out faster?

If anything...they should last longer since lowered cars have less wheel/shock travel.

My S runs so low right now that I scrape with the front spoiler if I attack a roadway that isn't very flat and level. Forget about driveway entries and exits! I think there is less than 2" of ground clearance up front. And from what I can tell the car is stock underneath and with only 42K on the clock it sure isn't a tired suspension. Heck, I tried to run over a small twig and wound up dragging it home!

Lower one? Maybe a stock Justa or something that isn't an S, but I think a stock S is as low as you can go!
