Question about loaners...

So on friday I brought my 2006 MCS in to be degreased and see if I had an oil pan gasket leak, which turns out it was fine. But from friday until today I had a loaner from them, a 2014 countryman S....Now this was something I wanted to avoid, but couldnt go 4 days without a car, and was planning on picking up my MCS tomorrow afternoon. After walking outside my apartment this afternoon, it appears someone hit my loaner and fled the scene. So I now have my police report but am still very worried. I called Towne Mini and informed the GM of the situation and he was very nonchalant about it, saying it was no big deal and we would take care of it when I came in.

Now my question is, am I responsible for the damage that was done to the vehicle? When I took the loaner, they only asked for my license, and not a credit card or insurance card. Though I did sign a loaner waiver/agreement form?

Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them with Towne, or happen to them with a loaner at all..just looking to see what I can expect tomorrow afternoon..thanks

I assume your insurance will be the one taking care of the damages. You will probably be out your deductible. If the PD finds the hit and run suspect then have your. insurance go after them. The dealer/rental desk takes your insurance card just for such occurrences. Sorry to hear that this happened to you. It sucks when people won't take responsibility for their actions.

Yea but thats what I was confused about, because they never asked for my insurance when I got the loaner. But Yea literally fuming when I saw the damage. Just don't get why people can't own up.

They should have made a copy of your proof of insurance, my mini dealer does (no insurance, no loaner). Mib is correct, you (your insurance) is on the hook, just as if you had rented the car. At least that's the way it works in AZ..

I bet they will ask for insurance as you return it
As others have stated, you (your comprehensive insurance after you cover the deductible) will be responsible for the damage.

I feel your pain, though the answer to your questions is self-evident.

The loaner agreement form that you signed, what does it say?
