What year Mini ?

Hello. I am currently saving for a used Mini (2007-2008) and am looking for any information, insight or warnings as to what I should be aware of when buying a used Mini. If you have a moment to post any information that might be helpful, I would be grateful. Thank you

Let us know if you are looking for a Justa or an S...

Personally, I'm fond of the 2007 R52 S (Convertible) ... last of the Superchargers.

Motor on!

R52 models were built through July 2008

The 2007 was model generation change, the base cooper was more reliable than the Cooper S with turbo. CVT was not reliable, for transmission better to choose manual and it's more fun to drive.

Check the interior for wear and tear, leatherette seats hold up better than leather or cloth. Check all electronics for working order and headliner for sagging. A/C, power steering, and power windows often fail with time.

Look for low mileage, full maintenance records, clean carfax and clean title (not salvage), 1 or 2 owners.

If you are using the MINI to commute then base cooper with 15" wheels or 16" non runflats would be best for mpg and ride quality. If you want runflats then OEM 16" or 17" wheels and respective runflat tires with fit either cooper or Cooper S.

If you like to drive fast or sporty handling then a 2006 MCS with manual transmission is worth considering, it's the original gen 2 body and interior.
