Any tips for purchasing a new MINI from the dealership?

I don't have extensive experience, although I've participated in at least 3 vehicle purchases.

I thought I'd try a new strategy this time. Since we are looking at buying a custom build, I thought I'd ping all the dealerships in the state to see what they'd offer for our very specific Countryman build, and then try and play them off each other. Are they able to ship vehicles from dealerships to residences? Anybody know?

Curious if anyone has any strategies to share or any advice to offer from their own experiences trying to get the right price on your MINI.

Thanks!

P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I didn't see any others that really pertained (unless I'm blind!)

Depends on the dealership . From where I live I had 3 states and 7 dealerships involved. One dealership was willing to flatbed a truck 7 hours to my front door- no extra charge. Some are willing to order an exact car and others only wanted to sell what was on the lot. At the end I the year they typically want to move what's in inventory.

I read through the sticky and it seems to only pertain to dealership service, and not purchasing a car.

Once the dealer knows you are custom building, he has a motivated buyer. Pretty hard to work against that knowledge. Seems like some people have reported doing well with buying services like AAA offers. I'm a bad car buyer because I usually want what I want and in the end a few dollars doesn't motivate me to spend the time and energy going from place to place. And with Mini in Oregon you don't have a ton of options.
