IPod Controls

Hello all

I've had my 2014 Paceman for a little over two weeks now. So far so good
The other day I tried hooking my iPod up to the MINI with the provided Y-cable. I switched the console control to 'iPod' and was treated to a message that said my cable was not authorized and that I needed one from my dealer. I figured my iPod might be too old, so I swapped it for an old iPhone 3GS. Same deal.
Is there a trick to getting the iPod control to work?
I do get the same message when using the Apple provided 30 pin cable and separate stereo cable, but expected that. Any thoughts?
Thx!

Assuming the cable's not just defective, it could be the wrong cable - you get that message when trying to use the cable for "visual boost"/Connected-equipped MINIs on a standard stereo (and possibly vice-versa). See if your dealer will swap your cable for you.

I stopped by the dealer and they gave me another cable to try. It still may be the cable, but now the USB port isn't supplying power to any of my devices. Looks like I'll be going back tomorrow to schedule my first service visit.

Appears to partially be user error. New cable works with iPod. Old iPhone requires a SIM card to be recognized as an iPod.
