MINI Engineering- Thank you
MINI Engineering- Thank you
Posting this in the general thread as I've found this to be true in both my R56 and F56.
Yesterday I literally missed getting killed in a car wreck by a matter of an inch or two. A Dodge Minivan driver doing 35 MPH+ came out of a blind parking lot to a 4 lane road where I was travelling parallel on it doing roughly 50 MPH. She didn't stop, swerve, or flinch. I was fortunate enough to see her front end come across the sidewalk and instinctively jerked the wheel left and then right (to avoid a car just in front and in the lane left of me).
I did a full 180, tires screeching, knocked me out of gear, and I somehow had the sense to stop before sliding back into the curb. Not a scratch on me or on the MINI. The Dodge Minivan went across all four lanes of traffic into a Wal-greens parking lot (over a curb) and kept going.
I don't have a doubt in my mind that if I'd been driving any other vehicle (including my Subaru) I would have been a dark spot on the hood of that van. The van was coming out of an elevated parking lot and would have hit me in such a manner that it would have easily rolled me into oncoming traffic. No way in hell I should have avoided it but somehow I did.

Thank God you're safe! I had something similar happen and boy did my MINI save me and my car BIG time. If it was an SUV or something bigger, bye bye car and possible injuries to myself.
MINI FTW:-).
