Recommendations for dash cameras?

Given the almost daily *******essery on the roads in my new home State, I'd like to start recording when I'm out and about.

Any recommendations on a good HD setup that is functional and not so obvious I get my windows broken when it's stolen?

Driving an F56 if that makes a difference.

No first-hand experience, but I've been doing some looking as well and think I've decided to go with the BlackVue DR550GW-2CH. Has good reviews, is small and discrete, video samples look good, has several options for configuration (save everything, save only after an incident, etc). The 2CH one comes with front and rear cameras, which is something I want since getting rear ended by people not paying attention is always one of my primary concerns on the road. Also has GPS built-in which I'm more or less indifferent to, but the GPS model seems to have supplanted the older non-GPS one.

I like that it doesn't have a screen on it (you use your phone or PC when pointing it or viewing video) so it won't be mistaken for a GPS by any would-be thieves. Figure I'll just mount it behind the rear-view mirror next to my EZ Tag in the front. In the rear I'm wondering if I might be able to do a rear wiper delete and find a way to use the hole that leaves for the camera.

I just picked up a Garmin Dash Cam 20 from BestBuy. It records in HD1080p as soon as the car starts and stops 15 seconds after I turn it off. So far I like it. It records on a 32GB microSD card in 4 minute files around 255 MB AVI per file (too large to load here) saves 384 minutes at highest resolution and then rewrites unless you mark a file saved. Using the Garmin Dash Cam player it displays your location of video, speed, g-force while driving. I attached two screen shots.

There are so many no name brands available on the internet but I thought at least with Garmin brand they would stand behind it.

I really dig this! I'll definitely be picking one up as well.

Does it have a feature to erase everything with one button press - this is really cool but if one were driving in a "sporting" manner there might be occasion where one would want to quickly delete the evidence, if you know what I mean...

I use a Mobius with the wide angle lens. No GPS or anything, but it's cheap and works.

I don't have any experience yet, but I've heard that the Mini 0801 and the new Mini 0803 are pretty darn good.

I found this extremely helpful:

I use a G1W-C http://www.amazon.com/G1W-C-1080P-H-.../dp/B00JJ3SQRI

I use this one because it has no battery, just a small cap to let it power off. Don't want a battery with how hot it gets on the windshield. Video quality is excellent and it fits perfectly behind the MINI's mirror, you can't even see it! Before this camera I had a DVR-027.

The files can certainly be deleted quickly either 1) selecting the Format Memory Card option on the DashCam which deletes ALL files on the MicroSD OR 2) connecting to laptop and selecting all the files you wish to delete OR 3) on the DashCam itself, scroll and select the file you wish to delete one by one OR 4) removing the MicroSD memory card and deleting by connecting the card to my computer to view all the files. Also, the card is so small one could actually swallow it--if necessary!

I was questioned whether I wanted to purchase the DashCam 20 with GPS which displays current speed and location at the bottom of the video or DashCam 10 without GPS. I opted for with GPS option.
