Strange Service Odometer

OK, so why is my service odometer going up instead of down? After the last dealer oil service, it was reset to 6K for some reason. It went down to 1600 and now is at 2000. There is no "check engine" or "oil service" or oil can icon or car up on lift icon.....I'm stumped. am I missing something?? Oh and this is on a 2013 R55.....

Which service is due up next? If its the brakes they can easily count up.

I just turned 20K on the actual odometer. Not sure if the brake service is coming up. Oil service should be coming up in 4-5K. There are no icons on startup, only the silhouette of a MINI. If brake service is coming up, then when does the count up stop?

This is as if I had missed a service and the service odometer is going up to indicate that I missed a service. I know that BMW has this feature, but the service message comes on as well....not in this case

Check your manual for the instructions on how to access the menu for the OBC service indicators. You should be able to figure out from that which one is indicating for 2,000 miles now. Once you know that, you may be able to figure out why it is going up.

OK, so I found this after some very hard searching:

Turns out the mileage might be going up because of a change in the way the car is being driven. This might be happening because I started noticing the change right around 1) the end of winter season and 2) a change in my job which changed my commute path (farther, but more constant speed, less stoplights).

Mine counted up too for a long while, then it went to zero overnight. It depends what service is counting and how the car is being driven.

You don't seem to have discovered how to check the individual service indicators. As jcauseyfd says, check you manual on how to do it. You get into the computer with the button on the stalk, choose Set/info and then Service info.

The brake indicator in particular can count up if you're easy on them. The indicator when you turn the car on is just the next one the computer thinks is due.
