Anyone in Germany?
Anyone in Germany?
I'm headed to Germany in August for two years, and I'm a little hesitant to bring my MCS since the warranty won't be valid there. Does anyone have experience with the cost of Mini repairs in Germany? Being in a foreign country without a warranty is a bit worrying.
Where are you going in Germany? I live at Ramstein and there is a local dealer here. All labor and parts can be done tax free if you bring a VAT form. The tax here is 19%, so it saves you significantly. You can also bring your own oil bought on base to the dealers to save further. Oil on the economy here is much more expensive than US prices. Labor runs approximately 70 euros and hour, thats about $100. But once again, you can use a VAT form to save the 19% tax. Parts cost pretty much the same, except the price is euros.
It is great to have MINI over here! Autobahn driving and winding roads galore! Parking is easy because the spots are small most of the time. It really is the perfect car for over here, but then again it IS the PERFECT car!!!!
I have one more comment, you could get a newer US spec MINI over here for a great price. That being said, if you brought one with you, you will not be able to sell it for what you could in the USA. It is a buyers market over here for MINIs in the US community. You can buy cheap, but you usually sell for under NADA. Just a thought if you wanted to get a new one.
