Countryman S vs. Countryman S All4
Big tire savings with the All4. I rotate ~5,000 mile. On my Clubbie you could see how much you tear off on the fronts, with fun starts, on every rotation. With All4 at 3rd rotation they all still look new with even wear. I have factory run flats on my 19's, after my Clubbie S on runflats for 5yrs this ride is much smoother.
For what it's worth, my current loaner is a Countryman S All4 and I like it a lot. There's no wheelspin at all even if you stomp it, and it has great AWD handling. However, the gas mileage is accordingly crappy - I'm seeing sub-20mpg in mixed driving. YMMV.
i own at cm s have had it for 22 months fwd model std. last winter if it snowed couldn't go anywhere with it slide all over the place. This winter I bought a set of winter claw snow tires and a set of sixteen inch rims and when it snows I'm out driving around in it and I leave my 4wd truck at home. It mainly depends on what your needs are for which model you want I also have leatherette seats and are they ever cold when the temps 32 or colder, but I have the cold package and that solves the cold seat problem. a bench seatin the back and a flat load floor. also the awd with automatic tranmission model what I've noticed on this forum gets a lot worst gas milage than the fwd s. But they also had a lot of issues with the std awd models the automatic tran had none. I've also heard people complaining about the sun roof rattling I don't have one so I don't have the problem. I would susjest driving them both and see which one stands out for you. I live in nh. I also but a nm intake on it what a difference that made on pick up and gas milage if I can keep my foot out of the throttle. The awd s model is only .7 slower to 0 to 60 than fwd s model
What kind of driving? City, highway, mixed?
My wife's 6-week old Countryman S FWD is averaging about 27mpg so far.

break in period I was getting around 32. that's driving mixed. shift at 2000 rpms and cruz and some times around 3000 in first and second around 5000 and skip all the gears and drop it in 6th cause i'm already speeding . I don't down shift coming to a red light or stop sign I try to keep moving. I'll be in sixth by 35 to 40 now when I play a bit my milage will drop to to 29 to 34 I did put nm high air flow air filter on it made it guicker and cruzing increased my mileage. the reading that your getting for 27 is that what the car is telling u or are you filling the tank set the trip at zero then fill up after driving 150 or more miles. when I was reading the my cars average it was off it would read 32 and was actually getting anwhere from 34 to 37. I just reset it two weeks ago and the cars reading from 36.2 to 37.3 which means I'm probly getting better. if you let the warm up and 10 to 20 minutes before driving it doesn't seem like much but that hurts the milage, short hops also will also bring down the milage. I live 4.6 miles from work 5 lights to contend with one way, 8 lights another way if I take the car my mileage drops anywhere from 29 to 32 when we got that below freezing weather that week I let car run for15 minutes before work and after work go the worst ever 25 my truck gets and average aroun 20. But the winter time I'm looking at 12 to 16
