Hi there fellow mini owners. I have a quick question to ask. I'm nearing my 50k mark on my countryman and unfortunately it's an absolute requirement for me to opt to buying the extended warranty. I've had dozens of issues with the car and in order for me to maintain sanity and my car, I have started researching this topic.

A coworker of mine has just informed me that he paid 2200 for his extended mechanical and 1700 for the maintenance warranty. Note, that this was a few months ago. I must say, this is much less than I have been quoted by my dealership. I've been quoted 3400/1895.

My question is, what have you guys paid and where? I may opt to calling around to buy my warranty over the phone if at all possible or even travel out of state if I have to save hundreds of dollars.

1,850 for the extended maintenance is what I had been quoted when I checked at my dealership. I've seen prices in these forums ranging from $2,200 - 3,400 for the extended warranty.

I didn't purchase an extended warranty at the time I bought my MINI, but in my experience with several dozen new car purchases in the past few decades, the cost of an extended warranty is usually negotiable with a dealer. After I declined it at one Honda dealer, the finance guy called me the next day and offered a "special" price which was $500 less than the price he had previously quoted. I purchased it, not for the price, but because it included (in writing) that the price I paid for the extended warranty was fully refundable if I didn't use it during the extended period!

Extended warranties are basically insurance products sold by the factory as well as by independent companies. The price differences may be due to different terms, different deductibles, whether you can use any mechanic, etc. You may want to check with your bank or credit union as well as on-line to see what they may have to offer. You definitely can look for this outside of your MINI dealer.

Not sure if other dealers offer discounts, but I wouldn't and didn't accept their first offer
Told them I'd bundle both extended packages and then kinds low balled them
They dropped the package together price and I'm very happy with what we got
You can never pay too much for what YOU feel gives you piece of mind!
