Air Conditioning

Would appreciate it if someone or two would comment on the adequacy of the air conditioning in the mini's. I live in Florida where it gets very hot for many, many months. If the air conditioning is not capable of handling the climate, I would be one very unhappy camper.

It's fine. Takes care of hot, humid mid Atlantic days no problem.

No problems here in Raleigh with 90-100 degree days with high high humidity!

I live in a humid part of Texas and it does a fine job. I rarely use the max setting.

Do you have the automatic or manual system?

On the manual system, you have to turn on the recirc button to get maximum performance out of the A/C, if you do you'll notice a large improvement in the cooling, especially if the car has been parked in the sun all day.

We have no problem with Northern California temperatures and sun. Though it doesn't often get stupid hot here, its coped with temps up to about 105F.

I'm in SWFL and my A/C (auto) is great, but I prefer the windows and sunroof open..

Old USF ('80) grad here! I'm going back to the Florida Gulf Coast next summer. I'm very glad to hear you guys speak up for the MINI A/C in the Sunshine State. I think I'll drive top down, windows down, A/C with fan on high, while sitting on color-coordinated sheepskin seat inserts (hidden from view while driving) during the brutal summer months.

any car in the sun will be hot for the first couple mins of driving. The mini's AC on re-circulated and using a cheap sun shade helps a bit too ( get a dollar general/family dollar store one) Is just fine for me.

The best thing you can do is put limo tint (5%) on the sunroof. Otherwise, it's like a big solar collecting fishbowl.

in addition to my last post. My wife does have the windows tinted and it does help a lot. but the car does cool down very fast.
try and cool my suburban down takes forever. I just have to get a permission slip to drive hers but I am the one that changes oil and do all the wash and
wax and still only get to drive it to church on sundays. Well at least I have my 33 coupe that run with anything on the road corvettes included.

if your car is HOT when you return AND you have the sun roof

crack the sunroof open for a minute or two when you enter the car

this allows the heat to escape (heat rises)

In my experience the CM (2013 S) has a woefully inadequate A/C unit. It doesn't work well enough for my St. Louis climate, so beware.

LOL, got you all beat. We saw a high of 118 in Phoenix this summer, and almost 30 days over 110. Our MCS has limo tint and I bit the bullet and bought the OEM front window screen. The AC was fine, just takes a couple of minutes to cool down the cabin if it's been sitting in the sun.
